What organisations can benefit from a data mesh?

·1 min

A reader recently asked me: What organisations can benefit from a data mesh?

I’d say almost all organisations can benefit from moving in the direction towards a data mesh, where you are starting to provide self-service tools and start to apply more discipline to your data through data contracts.

Just doing that starts to change the data culture you have, to one where you apply more discipline to the generation of data so you can realise more value from the consumption of data.

This is particularly important for organisations that are looking to build key applications on top of their data, whether that is through revenue generating products, critical internal business processes, or benefiting from the latest AI models that are trained on your data.

You don’t necessarily have to implement a complete and perfect data mesh to start realising these benefits. In fact, you should realise many of these benefits before you are “done” with your data mesh migration.

But any organisation who wants to increase the value of their data would benefit from applying at least some of the principles of a data mesh.

Want great, practical advice on implementing data mesh, data products and data contracts?

In my weekly newsletter I share with you an original post and links to what's new and cool in the world of data mesh, data products, and data contracts.

I also include a little pun, because why not? 😅

(Don’t worry—I hate spam, too, and I’ll NEVER share your email address with anyone!)
