57% of data practitioners highlight data quality as one of their chief obstacles

·1 min

dbt Lab’s 2024 State of Analytics Engineering found 57% of data practitioners highlight data quality as one of their chief obstacles in preparing data for analysis.

That’s up from 41% last year, so it’s getting worse.

On the other side, business leaders aren’t getting what they want from their data.

The Digital Leadership Report from Nash Squared found 64% of organisations think that big data and analytics are the way to deliver competitive advantage, yet only 1 in 5 are using it to deliver increased revenue.

That’s a huge gap between their aspirations with data, and the reality of what they’re seeing.

So, if you want your organisation to address the data quality issues you are facing, show your leaders how that will close that gap and deliver value for the organisation.
