Alert fatigue

·1 min

How many alerts do you get every day?

And how many of them are actionable?

If you’re getting a lot, and many of them are not actionable, you’re probably suffering from alert fatigue.

This is where, because you get so many false alarms, you become desensitised to those alerts and start ignoring them.

This Friday afternoon, why not look into one of those non-actionable alerts you’re getting, and do one of the following:

  1. Fix what is causing the alert to fire, even if it’s minor
  2. Tweak the alert so it only fires when an action is needed
  3. Remove the alert completely, since you’re not taking actions on it anyway
